ANNUAL COST SAVINGS
We calculate annual cost of savings by assuming 15,000 miles driven per year, dividing by the selected car's MPG, and multiplying by the average price of gas in your local area. We then subtract this number from the Jetta TDI model's annual fuel cost to get the annual cost of savings.
ALTERNATIVE FUEL TAX CREDIT
As if the everyday savings at the pump weren't enough, the IRS recently confirmed all three Volkswagen TDI Clean Diesel models may qualify for the federal government's Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle tax credit. Given out to the nation's most efficient vehicles, the credit will be worth 1,300 dollars this coming tax season. Power. Efficiency. And one big honkin' tax break. It's what the people want.
FEWER CARBON EMISSIONS
Carbon emissions are the most common form of auto pollution. Each ton (2000 lbs) of CO2 we prevent from entering the atmosphere is the ecological equivalent of planting a tree*. To obtain this figure we reviewed the carbon emissions figures for the selected vehicle and then subtracted it from the Jetta TDI model's yearly CO2 emissions, giving us "fewer carbon emissions."
FEWER GALLONS OF FUEL
We calculate "Fewer gallons of fuel" by assuming 15,000 driven miles per year and dividing by the selected car's MPG. We subtract this amount from the Jetta TDI model's annual fuel usage to calculate the "fewer gallons of fuel."
