We're setting the bar for fuel efficiency with our TDI Clean Diesels. It's up to you to show us how high.
The Golf, Jetta, and Jetta SportWagen TDI® Clean Diesels are rated at 42 mpg and the Toureg TDI at 25 mpg. Yet we've heard plenty of reports of owners getting mileage much higher than that. We wanted to see how much TDI drivers are squeezing out of their tanks, so we started the TDI Tank Wars, a friendly fuel-efficiency competition to see exactly how high is high. All you need to compete is a 2009 or newer Volkswagen TDI Clean Diesel and a Facebook page. It's easy.

Set up your Tank Wars profile.

To Compete:
While in park, reset your TDI vehicle's trip computer.
Drive for a minimum of 15 miles. There is no maximum.
Come to a stop and put your TDI model in Park.
Take a picture of your instrument panel showing your average trip MPG. Use the example to ensure a valid source.
Go to your profile and enter your MPG, and upload your instrument panel photo as evidence, along with any other photos you choose.
Post as often as you like to achieve your best results.

Be sure to include all these instruments in your photo.
You must be in park when taking photo.
Speedometer should read zero. If not, repeat step A.
Trip computer should show 15 miles or more.
This is your average MPG. Post this to your profile along with instrument panel photo.
